Our Amazing Family Getaway at Nautical Landings

When May-June comes around, it is usually time for our annual trip to Clearwater, Florida. My boyfriend and I have been taking this trip each year for the past four years. Historically, it has been just him and I; however, on our last trip the whole kit and caboodle joined us---his 17 year old daughter, his 18 year old niece, and his 4 year old granddaughter (from his eldest daughter).

We were so excited to have everyone join us, but it just didn't seem right to cram everyone into our usual hotel room. If you have ever travelled with family, you know this would have been uncomfortable to say the least. So, for the sake of everyone's sanity, we opted to search for a condo instead. This proved to be one of the best things we could have done! After searching for the perfect condo, we stumbled on a condo a little further north of Clearwater, in a little place called Dunedin. The place we found is called Nautical Landings and it was amazing-everything from the amenities, to the personal service, to the location was just amazing. I am not sure that I can even do this place justice, but I will try... here goes.

The building is actually made up of four separate units: The Helm, The Bridge, The Port Bow, and The Starboard Bow. We stayed in the Port Bow which is one of the bottom floor units. The pictures online looked great; however, we were still not quite sure since pictures can be deceiving. Well, not in this case!

We were given a code to get into the condo through emails. When we arrived it was very easy to gain entrance to our unit. The Port Bow consists of two bedrooms, one bathroom, a full kitchen with pots and pans, etc, a dining room, and a living room with all the comforts of home. The most impressive part however, is the patio and deck that can be accessed through sliding glass doors in both the living room and one of the bedrooms.

Sliding open the doors leads you to your own little oasis. By your own I mean shared with the other occupants of the other units; however, that, as it turns out, only added to our fantastic stay. The upstairs condo was rented by a very nice man, his wife, and their 6 year old son. He fished off the deck daily and even caught a couple of sharks which he allowed us to see and take pictures with!

Every day there was something new to see. One evening we watched a manatee swim by, we saw dolphins daily, and each day we were greeted by the friendly neighborhood pelican hoping to score a treat from the bait traps. Not to freak anyone out, but one day we even saw a shark feeding frenzy several yards out from the deck!

Not only did the place come with all of the comforts of home, it came with everything you could possibly want for a great beach vacation: fishing gear, kayaks, two outdoor grills, bikes, and an access card for admittance to Honeymoon Island, which is only a short distance away.

I can't recommend Nautical Landings highly enough, especially for a family vacation. The owners, the amenities, the dock, and the views were all exceptional!
